My daughter attended Duke from 1990 to 1994. Coach K was an incredible role model, a true Champion in every part of his life. Two weeks after her graduation, I had a brain aneurysm rupture causing a stroke that left my left side paralyzed. I admired Coach K’s courage and determination coming back from hip surgery. He has inspired me greatly i am now walking with a cane and weaning myself out of my wheelchair. When I recommended to Kate to apply to Duke, little did I know how positive a force Coach K would have on us both.  I am determined to regain use of my left arm hand and leg more fully. I am grateful to have survived the aneurysm and stroke but I want more from life for my family and myself thanks for the inspiration Coach K. I will be at Madison Square Garden next February 25th to root for Duke against St. Johns. I am a New Yorker born and raised. I attended Power Memorial at the same time as Lew Alcindor.
