I have lived in my community all my life. I am 51 years old Female. I played basketball in high school, softball, track. It was the only thing i really had to look forward to. Both parents were deceased at 13 years of age. i grew up needing something to fill that void. It has always been watching you coach and the level of caring i have seen in your coaching. Because of you coach K I have been driven to be the best at everything i have done. i have coach softball and the pass 8 years varsity behavior youth. I have worked with youth for 27 years and i love it. What is precious to me is helping them home in on their skills and to build confidence and self worth through this sports. I have modeled my coaching after you. I am a Duke fan and have always been since you have been coaching. If i had wish and it could come true it would be to have you be a guest speaker at my school at our sports banquet. Ahhh that would be so awesomefor my boys but, it would be awesome for me. These guys struggle with becoming decent young men. With the help of people like you whom has had a impact on me. I’m making a difference trust me. If I save one boy from failure it’s worth everything. I respect and appreciate the job you do. Those young men play hard for you. That’s the true sign of a great coach. Thank you for instilling hope in me so that i can reflect with those that feel hopeless.

Take care not to allow one aspect of your life to so consume you that you neglect the others. Balance can put things in perspective, can bring you joy even when you are down, and can allow you to be at your best in all aspects of your life.

When you care about someone or something, you show genuine concern for that person or thing, in good times or bad. When you care about one another and about your purpose, you are compelled to put your feelings into action. Care creates an atmosphere that breeds success and gives you the confidence to try again.

Collective Responsibility

We win and we lose together. Handling the responsibility for wins and losses together removes the burden from one individual’s shoulders and distributes it among each member of the team. That atmosphere is conducive to high-level performance and places you and your team in the position to be bold and unafraid, and if you should lose, you are not alone.
